"No Surprises" - Radio Head

"A heart that's full up like a landfill,
a job that slowly kills you,
bruises that won't heal
You were so tired, happy,
bring down the government,
they don't, they don't speak for her
I'll take the quiet life,
a handshake of carbon monoxide
No alarms and no surprises"

World Citizen's issue...

One day I wake up and I'm in a place where people don't look like me at all and their culture is completely different from the one that I've been always use to.
On the day after that, I wake up and I'm now in a place where it's considered the modern world's empire and some of the most powerful people are just a few kilometers from me.
Finally, today, I wake up and I'm (again) in the place that has changed the destiny of my life.

I dunno, but this idea of waking up on opposite sides of the world in a short period of time, in different countries, with all its different people and culture, seeing my self every time in a completely different life style, is really crazy, a bit depressive, and I'm definitely not use to that yet... :/

If someone gives me an American History test today, I would get the best mark for sure. Perhaps a job as a history teacher would be a good idea... :P

New York closer

The Statue of Liberty is on an island, and you gotta pay to get a ferry from Manhattan if you wanna see it very close. Just like the Christ on the hill in Rio de Janeiro, the statue was also a gift from France. It was finished in 1884, and had to be packed into 214 boxes for the travel on a boat from France to New York. Well, whatever... There’s a cool and interesting museum there explaining these, and a lot of other cool stuffs about the statue and its history. When I went to New York for the first time in 1989, it was still possible to pay for a tour which uses to take you to her head for a nice view, but after the September 11th they canceled it, and now it’s just possible to go to the last floor of the building that she’s on.
Speaking about the September 11th, it was sad to notice how New York has changed since it happened, and since the last time I’ve been there in 2001 just a few months before. They are (fairly) paranoid with security, and everywhere you go there’s a camera, or police watching everyone. They check your bags and your clothes every single place you go with a lot of equipments. In the Statue of Liberty, for example, where everyone has to be checked twice (one before getting the ferry to the island, and another one in the museum) they check your bags with x-ray, and your body with metal detector, and another one (which I’ve never seen in my life before) that you have to pass through a thing that checks you with wind! Unbelievable! Everyone laughs at this one...
Apart from that, it was sad when I got to the Word Trade Center (where the Twins Tours used to be), and see everything there completely different. Before the September 11th, it’s was very cool to look up to the sky and hardly see the end of those two big buildings. But now there’s just a HUGE gap between all the buildings around it, and a huge hole on the ground with men working on it. Even sadder than that, was to see the “September 11th Memorial” with all the people’s names who died, and their children’s drawings on the wall. :/
Well, that's it... I’m just wondering now how Washington is gonna be when I get there in a few days.

Flying over a dream…
