Australia effect

More than a week in Brazil and I’m still having problems when speaking to people that are not from my family, or my friends. Like, a few hours ago I was in a restaurant with my father having lunch, and I said “thanks” instead of “obrigado” to the waiter.
The other day I was walking alone in a shopping center and got surprised with a couple speaking Portuguese to each other, just like I get when I hear Brazilians in Australia… Tosco!

Nudel has just came back from Luna’s xmas party. He left a message saying that it was fucking awesome and the girl he met was the best ever in Australia. I really wanted to go… :/

My friend Samy, who is living in Los Angeles, came for holidays to visit his family in Brazil too. Saturday night, after his mother’s bbq in Atibaia, we were high and spent the whole travel back to São Paulo speaking English to each other in my car. Then my mother called me, and instead of “alô”, I said “hello”… She couldn’t believe how dork I’m.

“- So you live in Australia??? That’s cool, dude! Is it true that people ride kangaroos, and have to be careful with boomerangs flying everywhere???
- Yeah, sure! Just like here that everyone can play soccer, and live on trees!”
